Finally Licensed and Ready to Roll
So after getting:
– – a kitas, which basically allows me to stay in Indonesia with as close to “local” status as possible
– – an Indonesian bank account (technically not needed to buy a scooter but it saves 3% Visa fees)
– – residency status (from the local Banjar – the neighborhood association)
– – and a driver’s license
I was able to buy a scooter and obtain license plates (which took three weeks). No temporary license plate issued.
Interestingly they only put one liter of petrol in your tank and so when you turn on the scooter the last line on the petrol indicator flashes – so instead of being thrilled to cruise you have to hurry and get petrol first!
